Don't miss this theatre classic - shadowed!
Company is a classic musical by Stephen Sondhiem. Sondheim is the brilliant mind behind Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, West Side Story, Sweeny Todd, and countess other 'must-see' shows. Company is also a 'must-see.' Sondheim is known for weaving a good story - and weaving language. His lyrics are complex and filled with detail. He uses them to help the listerners draw more detailed pictures in their minds. This challenges many actors - and is a wonderful challenge for interpreters. In Company, Sondheim does not tell Bobby's story from start to finish, like in a book. Instead, Bobby see bits and pieces of the lives of his friends, who are either married or engaged - and, this helps him understand the importance of 'having company' in life.
